ASAKUSA KAGUWA “Kaika Jishin” Season 2
1.【Gensouranbu】
Lions dance with intensity in a sea of clouds. When the fog clears, oiran appear and they begin their beautiful dance together.
※An Oiran is the highest-ranking prostitute in a brothel. Because they were high-class prostitutes who possessed knowledge, education, and artistic skills, they were considered to be “above the clouds” and out of reach of the common people of the time, like a flower on a high peak. They were also fashion leaders. Their hairstyles, hair ornaments, and dress were all luxurious and gorgeous.
Music Masaki Nakamura – Gensouranbu

2.【Ikazuchi -RAIJIN-】
With the intense sounds of taiko and shamisen, a lightning-fast acrobatic dance number unfolds. Beginning with a quick costume change, dynamic performances using flags and staffs follow one after another like lightning strikes. The overwhelming energy and power of the performances will keep you on the edge of your seat.

4.【The Call to Battle】
In silence, the samurai warrior’s mother, sister, and wife, clad in 12-layer kimonos, perform an emotional ceremony. They move gracefully, but with sorrow, as if to mirror his steadfast resolve. Eventually, the time comes for him to go to battle. As his retainer puts on his armor, his wife ties his waist cord, his sister hands him his sword, and his mother tightens his helmet, the samurai’s pride and the affection of his loved ones intertwine.

7.【Shishimai Festval】
Japanese people love festivals! The cheerful atmosphere of the festival will surely bring a smile to your face! The tempo gets faster towards the end of the song, so please join in with the audience by clapping your hands.
※The shishimai is a traditional Japanese culture in which performers wear lion heads and dance to ward off evil and bring good fortune. Being bitten by a lion is considered good luck and signifies good fortune. When the lion comes near you, offer your ticket and head and let it bite you to rid yourself of negative energy.
